June 17, 2008: Decompression

John, Marina, Victor and I decide to sleep in, but of course I wake up at 6:30 a.m. still mulling over yesterday’s events. Our flights leave at different times in the evening, but we agree to meet for a late breakfast at the Barking Frog to decide what to do during the day. Willows Lodge is in wine country, so we decide to go wine tasting at noon, our own Washington version of the movie Sideways.

We begin with the famous winery Chateau Ste Michelle just down the street and take a tour of the facility. They have a very nice cabernet sauvignon that I like. The grounds are beautiful, with an outdoor stage for popular music acts, lush gardens, and peacocks.

Next we cross the street to Columbia Winery, also very nice, but no tour.

My favorite is Novelty Hill/Januik. It’s very modern architecture with sustainable landscaping. I’m liking the feel of the building before I enter. Everything I sample I love, and I’m wishing Ohio didn’t have laws that prohibited wine being mailed to me.

Before you know it, we have to head to the airport. On the way, we chat, discuss the session a little more, discuss future possibilities, then go our separate ways. This quartet will meet again!
